PREPARE TO VOTE NEW COUNTY

Editor Boynton of Lyle met with A.R. Hayes of this place at the home of Theodore Suksdorf in Bingen for the purpose of arranging for the ballot on county division and drawing up a petition for the proposed new county. The matter of division on a line practically between ranges 12 and 13 will be placed before the people at the primary election, at the same time they will be asked to sign the petition to the next legislature for the creation of a new county. There is no doubt that a majority will vote favorably, but the point is to make it as large as possible, as the matter does not end at the primary, but in the legislature. At the Bingen meeting Editor Boynton said that he believed county division sentiment would be stronger if White Salmon would give them the temporary county seat, and requested it. But inasmuch as it was decided to leave that matter to a vote, the White Salmon member could not do this if he had been so inclined.
