GLENWOOD NEAR MT. ADAMS
With Wyers stage coming out from White Salmon,
With the dear old postoffice where we look for our
mail,
And the Yakima highway which used to be only a trail,
And the little church on the corner nearby,
That more could attend if they only would try,
Then right on the corner without traveling much more,
Is the Glenwood Trading and Development Store,
And from there if you go across the street,
Youll find the Mt. Adams Café to get something to eat,
And right down the line is August Kuhnhausens
Store,
With H. Kuhnhausens truck backed up to the door,
Unloading more freight to give a supply,
So go over there if youre wanting to buy,
Then cross back again and the cheese factory youll
find,
With about six others right on down the line,
Theres the barber shop where they trim you up
gay,
Then Simpsons Garage, not out of your way,
And Dintys Pool Hall where the men get their
smokes,
And hang around a lot telling funny jokes,
Then the drug store with medicine, ice cream, dry goods
and all,
And at the next door is Hansons movie hall,
Then theres Wecks Butcher Shop where we must
go for meat,
And Macks Confectionery right across the street,
Then down a little farther before you make the turn,
Is the Mt. Adams Garage and the gas you can burn,
Then right across on the corner is a nice home to sell
or to rent,
Whoever buys it will think their money well spent,
But before you go around the corner at all,
Go back a few blocks to B. Hansons dance hall,
Then back down the street where you started before,
And call at Mrs. Jebes Millinery and Variety Store,
Our nice big store is right across the street,
But no gymnasium for you to see who could get beat,
Then in and out of town are homes, farms, sawmills and
all,
And where the road forks youll find the Grange hall,
Where they have Grange meetings and sometimes a ball,
To turn your partner and promenade all,
And when the Hell Roaring ditch is completed and the
highway too,
We will all want to live near Glenwood and so will you.
Mrs. J. Troh
