NOT AFRAID OF BINGEN
Strangers coming into White Salmon from a distant places, and even from places not so very far away, after looking around and noting our prosperity and the way people are investing money here, almost invariably ask us, "are you not afraid of Bingen?", says the editor of the Enterprise. We wish to answer this question once and for all. We are not afraid of Bingen. It is true Bingen is only a little over a mile away and is presently located on the North Bank railroad, and she may grow to be a town, but that will not in any way effect this place adversely. We are making no fight against the little town under the hill, for her prosperity is ours. The larger she grows, the larger we grow, until in a few years there will be but one town here. By that time the two will be united. No we are not afraid of Bingen in doing us any material injury, and we hope and trust Bingen is not afraid of us.
