ALICE ARTILLE CLARY

     Alice Artille Delaff, was born January 14, 1856, in Perry County, Mo., and in the fall of 1860 moved with her parents to Jonston County, Texas, living in Texas during the Civil War. After the war, moved to Arkansas then in 1867 moved back to Perry County. She was married to H.A. Clary in 1876, to this union were seven children born, of which only to survive her, Hardy Clary, of Goldendale, and John Clary, of Tacoma; and her husband of Goldendale. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for 28 years and was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist church at the time of her death. The funeral services were conducted by Elder J.E. Adams at the Spring Creek School house, and Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery. She departed this life Oct. 22nd, 1915. Besides her husband and the two sons, she leaves three brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends to mourn her absence. Her brothers are R.E. Delaff of Salem, Ore., Willis Delaff of Perry County, Mo., and Perry Delaff of Santa Barbara, Cal. Four sisters are L.J. Sadler of Crosstown, Mo., Mrs. Mike Riddle, of Elgin, Ore., and Mrs. S.H. Swan of Portland, Ore.
     They moved to Klickitat some 23 or 24 years ago and settled and the Firwood district. They were residents of Goldendale, Washington at the time of her death.
