ARLIE A. KNOWLTON
Arlie Alberta Knowlton, of Ridgefield, Wash., and a former
resident of the Mid-Columbia area, died Nov. 25 in Portland, Ore., at the
age of 72.
Mrs. Knowlton was born April 21, 1913 to Malvin and Francis
(Lee) Thomas in Potlatch, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband
Lester, who passed away in August of this year.
As a child, Mrs. Knowlton traveled all over the west
with her family because her father built sawmills. She came to the Mid-Columbia
in 1945 with her husband. He worked for the Fisheries Department and the
Department of Natural Resources.
She was a member of the Evergreen Grange and the Willard
Woman's Club.
Mrs. Knowlton is survived by two sons, William Kelly
of Milton, Fla., and Larry Knowlton of Ridgefield; a brother, Larry Martin
Thomas of Renton, Wash.; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 27 at the Gardner Funeral Home
in White Salmon, with the Pastor Vilas Mazemke officiating. Interment followed
in the White Salmon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Gardner Funeral
Home, Inc.
