FUNERAL SERVICE HELD TODAY FOR ALICE K. SCHMID
Alice King Schmid, born November 25, 1893 near Lansing,
Michigan, died October 6, 1969 in White Salmon.
She was the daughter of George and Eva King who moved
from Michigan to Portland, Oregon when she was 12 years old.
When she was 18 years of age her family moved to Trout
Lake where she met and married John Schmid the same year. Alice and John
were married 57 years.
She loved Trout Lake Valley and in recent years she was
able to put much of the early history of the pioneers into writing. She was
very active in the Trout Lake Woman's Club, Trout Lake Grange, Pomona Grange,
Eastern Star, Homemakers Club, Shushula Reading Club, and Horticulture Club.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Helen Dolezal, Dorothy Wells
and Vesta Libby. 5 sons: Kenneth, Loren, Forrest, Leon, and Stanley. 19
grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; 4 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Trout Lake Presbyterian Church at
1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9th with Rev. Curry officiating. Interment will
be in Trout Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the 5 sons and Walter Schmid.

ALICE K. SCHMID
Alice K. Schmid was born November 25, 1893 at Williamston
near Lansing, MI. the daughter of George and Eva King.
On September 8, 1912 she was united in marriage to John
Schmid in Trout Lake.
She was a member of the Trout Lake Grange No. 210, the
Eastern Star Chapter in White Salmon, the Women's Club, the Shushula Reading
Club of White Salmon and the Horticultural Society.
After living for 57 years in Trout Lake, she passed away
October 6, 1969 at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon.
Surviving her is her husband, John
Schmid of Trout Lake; five sons, Kenneth K. Schmid of Trout Lake, Loren L.
Schmid of White Salmon, Forrest W. Schmid of Renton, Leon F. Schmid of Trout
Lake, Stanley J. Schmid of Seattle (one son, Merwyn, died in childhood) Also
three daughters: Helen Dolezal of Hillsboro, OR, Dorothy E. Wells and Vesta
J. Libby of Portland, OR.
There also survive 19 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,
and four sisters Carrie Wilson and Ethel Laubscher of Hillsboro, OR, Ildrie
Colfer of Portland and Althea Laubscher of Chelan Falls. Funeral services
for Mrs. Schmid will be held Thursday, October 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the Trout
Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Curry officiating. Interment will
follow at the Trout Lake Cemetery.
The family suggests that contributions to the Cancer
Society may be made in her memory.
