ALBA COLE BARTHOLOMEW

     Alba Cole Bartholomew of The Dalles, formerly of Dallesport and Wishram, died at his home Sunday, September 4, 1994; he was 89.
     He was born May 8, 1905 in Portland to Edwin Everett and Lila May (Shaw) Bartholomew. He grew up in the Bingen area and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland.
     After high school, he was self-employed as a plumber and electrician until the start of World War II. He then became an engineer for S.P. & S. Railroad (now Burlington Northern), retiring in 1972.
     Alba was a member of the White Salmon Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge. He loved to hunt.
     Mr. Bartholomew was preceded in death by his son Dennis in 1960.
     He is survived by his wife Florence Lois (Biesanz) Bartholomew, whom he married June 12, 1925 at Oregon City; sons Alba D. Bartholomew of Vancouver and Basil D. Bartholomew of Lyle; five grandchildren, Alba R. Bartholomew of White Salmon, Regena Rafeison of Hood River; Shawna L. Crane of Eugene, Kay Babb of Moscow, Idaho, and Dennis Bartholomew of Lyle; and sister Margaret Jones of Spokane.
     Private family graveside services were held at Trout Lake Cemetery. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

     Alba Cole Bartholomew, 89, a resident of The Dalles and a former resident of Dallesport and Wishram, died at his home on Sept. 4, 1994.
     He was born May 8, 1905 at Portland, the third of four children to Edwin Everett and Lila May (Shaw) Bartholomew. He grew up in the Bingen area and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High in Portland.

     He was a member of the White Salmon Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge and enjoyed hunting.

Bartholomew, Lyle; five grandchildren, Alba R. Bartholomew, White Salmon; Regena Rafeison, Hood River; Shawna L. Crane, Eugene; Kay Babb, Moscow, Idaho; and Dennis B. Bartholomew, Lyle; a sister, Margaret Jones, Spokane. Another son, Dennis K. Bartholomew, died in 1960.
     Private family graveside services will be held at Trout Lake Cemetery, Spencer, Libya & Powell Funeral home is in care of arrangements.
