PIONEER WOMAN OF TROUT LAKE BURIED LAST WEEK

TROUT LAKE VALLEY, Jan 21. Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Coate were called to Albany, Ore., last Friday by the serious condition of their mother, Mrs. Anna Coate. Mrs. Coate had suffered two strokes the Saturday before and death came just a week later, on January 17. Her funeral was held in the valley Monday afternoon. Mrs. Coate was one of the early pioneers of the valley, daughter of C.W. Moore, and also had married an early pioneer. She has always taken an active part in the valley as her health would permit and was a charter member of the Trout Lake Grange, the Trout Lake chapter O.E.S. and the Trout Lake Woman's Club, and she kept her membership in all these until her death. Her health has been poor for many years and she has been bedridden since her fall in November when she broke her hip and wrist. Three children are left of the family, Mrs. Martha Huffman who is at present working in Eugene, Ore., Lester Coate of Harrisburg, Ore., and Rodger Coate of Trout Lake.
