OBITUARY
Alice Burnette Owen, born March 11th, 1854, at Lisbon,
Linn, County, Iowa.
Was married to Wilson Allen Counts, February 19, 1870,
at Cedar Bluffs, Cedar County Iowa.
They moved to Kansas in the fall of 1876, residing in
Wilson County, of that state, until the spring of 1901 when they moved to
Klickitat county, Washington.
To this union was born 12 children, eight girls and four
boys, three of the girls having died in infancy, and the oldest son at the
age of 15 years.
She leaves behind to mourn her devoted husband, and eight
children: Mrs. Ella Sutton of Richland, Washington, Mrs. Lillian Dannels
and Mrs. Iva Milner of Altoona, Kan.; Frank and Charley Counts of Toppenish,
Washington, Mrs. Minnie Warren, and Ernest Counts of Blockhouse, Washington
and Mrs. Bessie Vanhoy of Goldendale, Washington.
Also thirty-six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The deceased departed this life January 18th, 1916, at
Blockhouse, Washington, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 7 days.
She was a devoted wife, an un-selfish mother, a kind
friend and a true neighbor, and leaves behind her a host of friends who will
sadly miss "Ma Counts," as she was lovingly called, from their midst.
