ADOLPH MATTA, PIONEER RESIDENT DIES SEPTEMBER 23
Adolph Matta, 89-year-old pioneer resident of the Centerville
community passed away at his home in Centerville, Friday, Sept. 23. Funeral
services were held Monday afternoon from the Phillips Funeral Home with the
Rev. Walter G. Smith of the Goldendale Baptist church officiating. Interment
was made in the Centerville Grange cemetery.
The deceased was born at Kuiisamo, Finland, March 25,
1860. He was married in Finland and came to this country, settling in the
Centerville area about 60 years ago. To this union four children was born.
His first wife passed away in 1937. On August 5, 1940, he was married to
Marie E. Holm in Goldendale.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Vivian
Wilson of Centerville and Mrs. Evelyn Hettrick of Ordinance, Oregon; two
sons, Herman and William, both of Centerville. Four grandchildren, three
step daughters and three stepsons also survive.
