AUGUST GRANT SAXTON
Saxton was born to George and Emma Saxton, of Goldendale
on Aug. 25, 1903 and died at his home Aug. 1, 1975.
He grew to manhood on his parents farm east of Goldendale
and in 1927 was united in marriage to Mary Evelyn Ray, daughter of Daniel
and Nancy Ray. Two children, Floyd Gordon and Betty Maxine, were born to
the couple.
He lived most of his life near Goldendale, until 1971,
when he sold the farm, and moved to Rathdrum, Ida. He just recently moved
back to this area and resided at Goodnoe Hills.
Saxton was a 25year member of Alimus Lodge No.15, Independant
Order of Odd Fellows. He was baptized in the Seventh-day Adventist Church
in Coeur 'd Alene, Ida.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter Mrs. Frank
Wesley, (a son Gordon preceded him in death in 1952); three sisters, Agnes
Nielsen, Brookings, Ore., Eunice Cahill and Ruth Henderson of Hunters, Wash.;
four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at the Knosher Funeral
Home with Pastor William J. Clemons officiating.
Pallbearers were Orville Trumbo, Kenneth O'Brien, D.H.
Pruitt, Glen Benjanun, Ronald Roe and Paul Schilling. Interment was in the
Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the auspices of Alimus Lodge No.15, IOOF.
