BERGLAND
Services were Monday, Aug. 7, 1989 for lifelong Klickitat
County resident Albin I. Bergland, a former port commissioner who died Aug.
2 at the age of 84.
Mr. Bergland was born April 12, 1905 near Wahkaicus to
Minnie (Moi) and Nels Bergland, and married Gertrude Garner in Yakima in
1931. He served as a Port District No. 1 commissioner for 12 years, from
1974-78 and 1980-85, when he retired. He was acting port manager from 1978-79.
He took a concerned role in county government, serving on many boards and
commissions.
Albin Bergland owned stores in Glenwood and Trout Lake,
and also ranched in the area. He wa a member of the Mt. Adams Elks Lodge
No. 1868, and he loved to hunt and fish.
Surviving him are his wife, Gertrude, of White Salmon;
two sons, Albin Reed Bergland of Entiat, Wash., and Donald W. Bergland, Seattle,
a sister, Norma Wildhaber, Tacoma, and a brother, Melvin J. Bergland, White
Salmon.
Contributions may be given to the Hugo Johnson Memorial,
in care of Glenwood Schools.
The Rev. Arthur Dickie officiated at the services, which
were directed by Gardner Funeral Home of White Salmon. Committal was in Mt.
Adams Cemetery, Glenwood.
