ANNA IRENE SCHILLING
Anna Irene Schilling of Stevenson died Sept. 5, 1999,
at Hood River Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She was 84.
She was born March 28, 1915, in Astoria, Ore., to Astrid
(Fanis) and Iver Oren. After high school she moved to Portland and met Lester
Schilling, whom she married June 17, 1932, in Trout Lake, Wash.
The couple lived most of their married life in B.Z. Corners
where they raised five children. They moved to Stevenson in 1977.
Mrs. Schilling loved quilting, crocheting, crafts, reading,
gardening, and adored flowers. She loved the ocean and liked to go clamming
and cook them on the beach. Friends regarded her as a very kind
woman.
Survivors include her husband, Lester Schilling; a son,
Kenneth Schilling of Tigard, Ore.; daughters, JoAn Hughes of Tigard, Diane
King of Cornelius, N.C., Deloris Vassalto and Norma Stein Stevenson; 18
grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 8
great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 9 at White Salmon Cemetery.
Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Donations may be sent
to local blood banks or a diabetes foundation.
