ANDREW J. BESS PASSES AWAY
Andrew J. Bess was born in Stodard County, Missouri,
on May 5, 1845. He died on February 13, 1920. He was married to Amanda McGee
on February 1st, 1874. To this union were born seven children, two of whom
died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and five children: -- a son,
Charles Bess of Portland, Ore.; and four daughters, Mrs. A.W. Estes of Portland,
Ore.; Mrs. Arthur Roberts and Mrs. S.F. Aslin of Camas, Wash., and Mrs. Chas
H. Estes of White Salmon. Besides numerous grandchildren, he leaves a brother
in Missouri and several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Bess united with the Baptist church of his home in
early manhood and died a member of that organization. For many years Mr.
Bess had been in poor health, and for the past several months has been a
great sufferer, yet bore his pain with patience.
Our sympathy is extended to the family, but especially
to his wife who has been a faithful companion for over 46 years.
His remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery
last Saturday afternoon.
