AUGUST JACK DAPKUS
August Jack Dapkus of Trout Lake died Thursday, Oct.
13 in White Salmon; he was 86.
He was born July 25, 1908 in Racine, Wisc., to Agnes
(Mayer) and Casmir Dapkus. Mr. Dapkus was raised in Libby, Mont., and moved
to Glenwood in the 1930s.
In the late 1940s he married Virginia Markgraf and he
moved to Stevenson. For many years he worked at various jobs in the timber
industry. His latest job was working with the United States Forest Service.
Mr. Dapkus was a member of the Church of the Nazarene
in Stevenson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia who died
in 1979.
He is survived by his son David Dapkus of Tok, Alas.;
his granddaughter, Lisa Dapkus of Wichita, Kan.; and his grandson Leigh Dapkus
of Rio Rancho, NM.
Funeral services for Mr. Dapkus were held Oct. 17, 1994
at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood, the Rev. Steve Barnes officiated.
The Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of all the
arrangements.

TROUT LAKE MAN DIES AT 86
August Jack Dapkus of Trout Lake died Oct. 13, 1994 in
White Salmon. He was 86.
Mr. Dapkus was born July 25, 1908 in Racine, Wis. to
Agnes (Mayer) and Casemir Dapkus.
He was raised in Libby, Mo. and moved to Glenwood in
the 1930's. He met and married Virginia Markgraf and they moved to Stevenson
in the late 1940's.
Mr. Dapkus worked in various jobs in the timber industry,
most recently with the USDA Forest Service.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Stevenson.
Mr. Dapkus is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia,
who died in 1979.
Survivors include: son David Dapkus of Tolk, Ark.; his
granddaughter Lisa Dapkus of Wichita, Kan. and grandson Leigh Dapkus of Rio
Rancho, N.M.
Graveside services were held Oct. 17, 1994 at the Mt.
Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
