ARTHUR CAVEN
Arthur L. Caven, a Tualatin resident born and raised
in White Salmon, died Dec. 4 of cardiac arrest. He was 72.
Mr. Caven was born May 9, 1916 in White Salmon, where
he was educated. His father was a barber in White Salmon and his parents
owned the Washington Hotel, formerly located near the place where Whitson
Elementary is now.
He worked as an insurance agent for many years, retiring
in the late 1970s. He also worked as a manager of the Stirrup Room in the
Multnomah Hotel in Portland.
He was a lifetime member of the Waluga Masonic Lodge
and belonged to the Harmony Masonic Lodge in Portland, as well as the Scottish
Rite of Freemasonry.
As a member of the Al Kader Shrine, he played the calliope
during Shriners parades and events, and frequently played the organ for senior
center events.
He was a member of World War II, and a member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, at home in Tualatin.
Disposition was by cremation.
