AUDREY L. GIBBONS
Audrey L. Gibbons was born August 22, 1892 in the Spring
Creek area to Francis and Mary Heller and died during the past week at
Goldendale.
She attended public schools in the Spring Creek area,
finishing high school at Goldendale. She worked in libraries until her marriage
in 1928 to John P. Gibbons, Spanish-American War veteran and first cousin
of world famous Tommy Gibbons. After their marriage, they resided near Fort
Lewis for about 10 years before moving to Portland. After the death of her
husband 10 years ago she returned to Goldendale to the family home during
the illness and subsequent death of her sister, Vera Heller, and remained
there until her death last week.
She was a member of the Lady Maccabees, VFW Auxiliary,
Daughters of Pioneers and a past member of the Goldendale Methodist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bessie Olsen of Seattle;
one sister-in-law, Mrs. Harvey Heller of Stevenson; two nieces, Frances Heller
of Stevenson and Mrs. Larry E. Wilson of Las Vegas.
Graveside services were held at the Spring Creek Cemetery
with Rev. Don McCauley officiating, May 29 at 10 a.m.. Pallbearers were Clyde
Bruner, Harry Mesecher, Cecil Allyn, Ray Linden, Charles Lenoir and Laurence
Layman.
