     Mrs. Amale Carstens died Wednesday night at her home in Bingen from old age. The funeral will be held this afternoon from the residence.

OBITUARY

     Amalie Feddersen was born January 23d, 1832 at Sindholm, Schleswig, Holstein; Germany. On January 23d, 1858 she was married to Theoner Carstens; her surviving husband. In 1881 the family came to the United States, lived one year in Chicago, and came the following year to Washington; where they settled on a homestead near Gilmer, in Klickitat Co. About five years ago, they retired, and moved to Bingen, To the union were born nine children, three died in infancy; one daughter, Mrs. Julia Kattenbach died in 1908.
     She is survived by her husband Theordor Carstens, one son C.E Carstens, of Bingen; and four daughters Mrs. Emilie Gilbert of Portland; Mrs. Marie Staack of Laurel, Wash., and Mrs. Luise Suksdorf and Miss Anna Carstens of Bingen; and twelve grandchildren.
     She probably never bad an one enemy, was loved and honored by all who knew her. She was a good wife and mother; was a good woman.
     She died March 4th, 1914 at the age of 82 years 1 month and nine days.
