HOCTOR
Mrs. Amelia M. Hoctor, 85, of Goldendale passed away
on Sunday, March 1, in Goldendale.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1902, in Parkston, S.D., to
Andrew and Caroline Rauscher. The family lived in Oregon for a time before
moving to Goldendale in August of 1916.
Amelia received her education at No. 6 School east of
Goldendale. She and Michael (Joe) Hoctor were united in marriage on Nov.
28, 1923, in Goldendale. They farmed east of Goldendale raising grain, hay
and livestock until retiring in 1966, when they moved into Goldendale.
Amelia was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and
Altar Society. She was also a member of the Wool Growers Association, the
American Legion Auxiliary, and the Goldendale Grange No. 49.
She is survived by one son, Wayne Hoctor of Goldendale;
and five grandchildren, Daniel J. Hoctor of Goldendale, Jill Schafer of
Toppenish, Erin Bast of Spokane, Cindy Enyert of Poway, Calif., and Kathy
Muhly of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine great-grand children, and one sister, Mrs.
Laura McDowell of Goldendale. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe
in 1968. Her son Donald R. Hoctor, four brothers and one sister also preceded
her.
Amelia enjoy crocheting, cooking, fancy work, gardening,
and especially her grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was said on March 5 at Holy
Trinity Catholic Church in Goldendale, with Fr. Seamus Kerr as celebrant.
Rosary services were held on March 4 at Holy Trinity Church. Burial was in
the family plot of Holy Trinity Cemetery in Goldendale, with Knosher-Erdman
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
