ALICE JOHNSON SERVICES HELD FEBRUARY 19TH
Alice M. Johnson was born in Poway, California, the daughter
of Florence and Perle Kent. She graduated from high school in Chino, California
and came to Lyle, Washington about the age of 15 years. She worked in The
Dalles during World War I and worked for the railroad at Tacoma until her
marriage to Victor Johnson at Vancouver, Washington on June 19th,
1925.
Her husband was associated with the Johnson Lumber Company
in the Lyle area until 1936 and then she and her husband farmed until Mr.
Johnson passed away June 30th, 1964. For the last several years, Mrs. Johnson
had lived with her family both at The Dalles and at Fair Oaks, California.
She leaves: a daughter, Carroll Schuster, of Fair Oaks,
California and a son, Kent Johnson, of The Dalles, Oregon; six grandchildren,
Kent, Allison, Grant and Kendall Schuster and Wayne and Kurt Johnson, and
one great-grand daughter, Michelle Johnson, age 6 months.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 19th,
1:00 o'clock at Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon with Rev. Frederick
Haag of The Bethel Congregational Church of White Salmon officiating. Interment
was at Lyle, Washington.
Casket bearers were: Jim Brubaker, Ernie Struck, Phillip
Tuthill, Frank Tuthill, Blair Shippey and Victor Hoppus.
