DEATH CALLS EARLY PIONEER OF CENTERVILLE
Death called another of the Klickitat pioneers the past
week, when Amanda Caroline Holm, wife of the late Andrew Wiidanen, was called.

the west, finally locating at Centerville, where the balance of their lives
were spent. They took up a homestead near Centerville, on which they remained
until 1920, when they retired from the active farm work.

continued to make her home in Centerville, to her last illness. To this couple
twelve children were born, six surviving: Charles and Peter, of Centerville;
Olive Bateman, Canyonville, Ore.; Hilma Fielding, Portland; Ida Barney, Seattle;
Laura Kayser, Goldendale. Ten grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters
also survive.
Mrs. Wiidanen was well known and much lived in the
Centerville section, where she had spent the best years of her life, as attested
by the floral offerings at the funeral service which was held Wednesday at
the Centerville Finnish Lutheran Church, Rev. William Basi, of Clatskanie,
Oregon, officiating. Interment followed in the Centerville Grange Cemetery.
A Tribute
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled;
The boon His love had given,
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in heaven.
