ANNA M. WINEBARGER
White Salmon resident Anna Marie Winebarger, a Columbia
River Gorge native, died Saturday, Oct. 3, in The Dalles, Ore. She was 86.
She was born Oct. 20, 1900 to Andrew B. and Anne E. (Briggs)
Pierson in The Dalles. She married Fred T. Weingartner on Nov. 25, 1920.
They lived on a wheat ranch in Moro, Ore., until moving to Trout Lake in
1923. The Weinbargers operated a dairy farm there until moving to White Salmon
in 1942. Mr. Winebarger died in 1972.
Mrs. Winebarger was a 50-year member of the American
Legion Auxiliary and a long-time a member of the Women's Club.
She is survived by a son, Carl F. Winebarger of White
Salmon, and a daughter, Dorothy Henkle, also White Salmon; grandchildren
Greg Winebarger of White Salmon, Sandy Bowan of Anchorage, Alaska, Esther
Knox of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Tony Winebarger of Vancouver, Wash., and six
great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Winebarger were held Tuesday, Oct.
6, in the chapel of Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon. The Rev. John Grabner
officiated. Interment followed in the White Salmon Cemeter under the direction
of Gardner Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to Skyline Foundation, care
of Skyline Hospital, White Salmon, or to New Hope Farms, Goldendale.
