YOUNG MAN DROWNED IN TROUT CREEK

     Albert Schmidt, 21, son of Jacob Schmidt of Trout Lake settlement near here, drowned August 9th while swimming in Trout Creek. Ernest Jensen, his companion, was reported to have tried to rescue Schmidt, but owing to his struggles was unable to assist him to shore.
     Schmidt's body was recovered 30 minutes later, and attempts at resuscitation made. Funeral services will be held at Trout Lake. He was unmarried.

5 ACCIDENT DEATHS IN 24-HOUR PERIOD
Two Drowning, Suicide and Fatalities in Traffic Cause

     PORTLAND, Aug. 11. (UP) -- Five accidental deaths occured in the Pacific northwest in the ladt 24 hours. There were two drownings, one accidentally shot, and two traffic fatalities.
     The toll by cities:
     Portland -- Ralph Coleman, 7, died last night from injuries received when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car driven by Donald Cheney, Portland.
     Seaside, Ore., -- George Wanger, 19, Portland, drowned in the surf, in the first accidental death at this resort this season.
     White Salmon, Wash. -- Albert Schmidt, 21, drowned while swiming in Trout creek, near his home.
     Yakima, Wash. -- L.D. Gano, 36, packing house manager, was killed when shot through the heart by the accidental discharge of his shotgun. It is believed he tripped and fell while carrying the weapon.
     Pendelton, Ore. -- Alvin Wilson, 57, killed 10 miles north of here when his truck plunged from the highway and overturned.
