ANNIE HIUKKA
Annie Hiukka was born to her parents, Joseph and Emma
Southwell, at The Dalles, Oregon, April 22, 1871; she passed away June 4,
1947 on the way to Goldendale General hospital.
Her father, who was born in Yorkshire, England, pioneered
across the plains in a prairie schooner, landing in the Willamette Valley,
Oregon, about 1845. He started for the West from Illinois.
She was married to Frank Hiukka at Vancouver, Washington,
November, 1925.
Besides her husband and a son Carl Hook of Centerville,
who mourn her going, she leaves a brother, Guy Southwell, St. Paul, Minnesota,
a sister Eva Stevans, Yakima, a half-brother Ben Southwell, of Klamath Falls,
Oregon. Ben is 98 years of age. She also leaves three grandchildren, many
nephews and nieces and other relatives.
Funeral services were held from the Phillips Funeral
Home Saturday, June 6, 1947, at 2 p.m. with Rev. C.J. Hall conducting. Interment
was in the Centerville Grange cemetery.
