ARTHUR LADIGES
Arthur William Ladiges, a Glenwood native, died at his
home at 71 Ladiges Road in Glenwood on June 24, 1999, at the age of 86.
Mr. Ladiges was born Nov. 7, 1912, in Glenwood to Henry
C. and Gertrude (Willhoff) Ladiges. He grew up in Glenwood, leaving to serve
in the Army on April 3, 1942. While in the service, he met Mary Stibal. He
was discharged on Dec. 17, 1945, and married Mary on December 31, 1945, in
Nebraska. They settled down and raised their family in Glenwood, where he
was a rancher. She preceded him in death in February 1991.
Mr. Ladiges was very involved in the Glenwood Rodeo
Association, the Glenwood Pioneer Association, the Elks and the Eagles. He
loved gardening, pinochle and wrenching.
Mr. Ladiges is survived by his sons Jerry Ladiges, Glenwood,
Robert Ladiges, Lynden, and Michael Ladiges, Hermiston, Ore.; sisters Melita
Harvey, Portland, Ore., Eleanor Abraham, Rainier, and Frieda Sheridan, Glenwood;
and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Osmar and Hank.
Funeral services for Mr. Ladiges were held Tuesday, June
29, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Memorial Community Church in Glenwood.
