ANDY RAUSCHER
Andy Rauscher was born in Parkston, S.D., Aug. 29, 1895
to Andrew and Carrie Rauscher, the oldest of seven children. He died at Klickitat
Valley Hospital in Goldendale on March 30, 1975 at the age of 89.
When he was a small child, the family moved to the Willamette
Valley of Oregon where they resided until the fall of 1916 when they moved
to Goldendale. The family lived on their ranch five and one-half miles east
of Goldendale.
Rauscher was drafted into the military service in September
1917. He served with the 91st Division. He was discharged in December 1918.
He was married to Nellie Davenport on Nov. 17, 1919. They lived on the home
ranch until the fall of 1941. Due to ill health he quit farming and the cattle
business and moved to Goldendale. In later years he was employed by the county
road district and the city of Goldendale.
He is survived by his wife Nellie; a daughter, Pauline
Coffield; a son-in-law, Jack Coffield of Wishram; a grandson, Mike Coffield
of Bellevue; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Hoctor and Laura McDowell; and to nephews,
Don and Wayne Hoctor.
He belonged to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the
American Legion, the Klickitat County Historical Society, the Goldendale
Grange and that the time of his death he was commander of World War One Barracks
for the second term.
He was an avid fisherman and gardening was his favorite
hobby.
Funeral services were held April 3, with Father John
Marasciulo officiating. American Legion Lilly Leidl Post 116 officiated at
graveside services at the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Wolverton, Gus Trumbo,
William Hoctor, Howard Masters and R.M. Largent. Active pallbearers were
Edward Morris, Marshall Duffield, Charles Hoctor, Ronald Roe, Donald Duffield
and Orville Trumbo.
