BETTY LORENGEL
Graveside services were held at Lyle Cemetery in Lyle
on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at 11 a.m. A memorial service followed at Emanuel
Lutheran Church in Hood River, Ore., at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Lorengel was born Jan. 11, 1918, in White Salmon,
to Claude M. Locke and Eva A. J. Lightner Locke and died May 18, 2004, at
her home in Netarts, Ore., at the age of 86.
Mrs. Lorengel graduated from Appleton High School with
plans to become a teacher. Because of her mother's health at the time, she
chose to stay at home and help care for her younger brother and sister.
She married her childhood sweetheart Louis Dan Lorengel
on April 22, 1939, in Stevenson. In 1949, they moved to Kinzua, Ore. They
lived there until retirement. In 1980, they moved to The Dalles, Ore. Mr
Lorengel died on May 12, 1993. Mrs. Lorengel moved to Netarts, Ore., in
1997.
She was actively involved with the PTA and was always
a favorite chaperon and chauffeur for years to her three children and their
friends for school activities.
Children were one of her greatest joys, along with cooking
for church functions, meals on wheels, and the homeless. She was an accomplished
seamstress, wedding dresses were a real pride of hers. She enjoyed embroidery,
flower gardening and sending cards to her family and friends.
She is survived by children Yvonne Benson, Netarts, Ore.,
Linda Williams, Netarts, Ore., Ldee Lorengel, Hood River, Ore.; nine
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two nephews, one niece, and two
beloved kitties.
Arrangements were in care of Waud's Funeral Home, Tillamook,
Ore.

Betty Carol Lorengel, 86, a former resident of The Dalles,
died at her home in Netarts on May 18, 2004.
She was born Jan. 11, 1918 in White Salmon to Claude
M. Locke and Eva A. J. Lightner Locke.
She graduated from high school in Appleton, with plans
to become a teacher. Because of her mother's health at the time, she chose
to stay at home and help care for her younger brother and sister.
She married her childhood friend and sweetheart, Louis
Dan Lorengel, on April 22, 1939 in Stevenson. They moved to Kinzua in 1949
and lived there until retirement.
They moved to The Dalles in 1980 and he died of cancer
on May 12, 1993. She moved to Netarts in 1997.
She was actively involved with the PTA and was a chaperon
and chauffeur for years to her three children and their friends for school
activities. She was an accomplished seamstress and wedding dresses were her
pride. She enjoyed embroidery, flower gardening and sending cards to her
family and friends.
Survivors include three children, Yvonne Benson and her
husband, Bill, Netarts; Linda (Lyn) Williams, Netarts; and Ldee Lorengel
and wife, Debra, Hood River; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren;
two nephews, one niece and two beloved kitties, Patches and Baby.
Funeral services will be held at Lyle Cemetery in Lyle
today (May 25) at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be follow at Emanuel Lutheran
Church in Hood River at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the local Meals on Wheels program,
the American Cancer Society or Hospice.

She leaves behind three children, Yvonne Benson and her
husband Bill of Netarts, Linda (Lyn) Williams of Netarts and Ldee Lorengel
and wife Debra of Hood River, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren,
two nephews, one niece and two beloved kittens, Patches and Baby.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local Meals
on Wheels program in your area or the American Cancer Society or Hospice.
