BILL DOVE
Bill Dove, 72, of Centerville, died May 26, 2001 in Pasco
from an apparent heart attack.
He was born Sept 8, 1928 in Idaho Falls to Jack and Kate
Dove. Bill started school in Idaho and the family moved to Goldendale in
1942 where Bill graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Army during
the Korean War and was married to Vernice Wiidanen on April 7, 1956 in
Goldendale. Bill worked as a log truck driver and at Boise Cascade lumber
mill and for a time with Washington State Department of
Transportation.
His greatest joy was farming and taking care of his
cattle.
He was a member of the Washington Cattlemen's Association,
served as chief of the Centerville Fire Dept., was a 4-H leader and served
on the board of the Cayuse Junior Rodeo Association for several years. Bill
was very supportive of his grand-children in the rodeo and other activities
they were involved in.
Survivors include his wife, Vernice, of Centerville;
two daughters, Susan Kreps and husband, Keith, of White Salmon, Judy Hoctor,
of Centerville; one son, Mike Dove and his wife, Rose, of Centerville; eight
grandchildren; three brothers, Bud and Jack, of Tonasket and Bob, of High
Prairie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held May 30 in the chapel of Erdman
Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Akins officiating. Interment was in the Centerville
Cemetery.
