BRUCE MEYERS
Bruce Edwards Myers, a long-time in Klickitat County
resident, died Aug. 10, 1998, at his White Salmon residence, at the age of
73.
Mr. Meyers was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Gilmer, to Lawrence
B. and Dulcie M. Meyers. He was raised in BZ Corners and Gilmer, graduating
from Columbia Union High in 1943. He went into the Army Air Force and served
during World War II. After his discharge he went to art school in Hollywood,
Calif., and Portland Ore. He came back to White Salmon and worked in the
timber industry for various outfits.
He married Geneva Wall on Nov. 19, 1959. He retired in
the mid-1980s. He was a rockhound and loved woodworking and flower gardening.
He hybridized wildflowers, oil painted and was a writer and musician (guitar).
He recently put one of his hybrids in Prince Charles' garden.
Mr. Meyers is survived by his wife, Geneva, White Salmon;
sons Steven Myers, Salem, Ore., and Alan Myers, Riverside, Calif.; daughter
Candace Hoopes, Boise, Idaho; brothers Richard Myers, Lincoln City, Ore.,
and Loren (Dale) Myers, BZ Corners; seven grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Myers were held Monday, Aug.
17, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon.
