B.F. WOOSLEY PASSES AWAY
Benjamin Franklin Woosley was born in Caswell county,
Virginia, October 10, 1840. In 1861 he enlisted in the Union army and served
four years during the war of the Rebellion, most of the time in the Second
Tennessee Volunteers. He was wounded three times during the war; was once
discharged for disability, but reenlisted as soon as he was fit for service.
He came to White Salmon about 12 years ago, since which
time he has made his home here. He died at his home in this city on Monday
morning, January 23rd, 1922, aged 81 years, 3 months and 13 days.
He became a member of the Missionary Baptist Church 55
years ago, transferred his membership to the Baptist church in White Salmon
several years ago and was one of the remaining members of that organization
at the time of his death. He was also a member of the G.A.R. post at Hood
River.
He was married three times and is survived by twelve
children: H.F. Woosley, of Ostrander, Wash.; Mrs. Emily Justice, Mrs. Elizabeth
Lares, Mrs. Mary Puckett, Whit Woosley, Jesse Lincoln Woosley and J.D. Logan
Woosley, of West Virginia; Mrs. Bean, of Virginia; James B. Woosley, McKinley
Woosley and Verley R. Woosley, of White Salmon, besides his widow, Mrs. B.F.
Woosley.
Funeral services were held in the Congregational church,
White Salmon, January 24th, 1922, Rev. O.A. Stillman officiating. Interment
was made in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
