BESSIE G. PEARSON SCHMID

     Bessie G. Pearson Schmid of Trout Lake, a life-long resident of the area, died in Lyle Dec. 12. She was 93.
     She was born Nov. 12, 1907, in Trout Lake to Nancy (Brykett) and William Coate, early pioneers who homesteaded in the valley. She lived her entire life in the community.
     In 1920, she married Orin Pearson. He preceded her in death in 1939. She later married Dewey Schmid, who died in 1955.
     Mrs. Schmid was a life-long member of the Trout Lake Presbyterian Church. She was a former telephone operator for the Forest Service. She was involved in Girl Scouts and the school board. She was a member of Skyline Hospital Board for more than 40 years. She also was a past grand matron of Eastern Star.
     She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Georgene and Steve Hill of Milton, and Nancy and Oscar Wallace of White Salmon; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
     A funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Trout Lake Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Jack Randall. Burial was at Trout Lake Cemetery.
     Memorials in Mrs. Schmid's name may be given to the Skyline Foundation or the Trout Lake Presbyterian Church.
