BERT L. COFFMAN RITES SATURDAY
Bert Leslie Coffman, formerly of North Bonneville and
for 15 years a logging truck driver for the Hegewald Timber Co., died in
a Battle Ground convalescent home Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the age of 59.
Mr. Coffman retired some years ago following a disabling
accident but his death was attributed to a malignancy which was detected
recently when he was hospitalized in Vancouver.
He was born February 14, 1919, in Omaha, Nebraska, the
son of Eugene and Lillian Hoffman. He grew up in the Midwest and was married
to Darlene Everett in West Plains, Missouri, May 10, 1943. They made their
first home in West Plains and came west in 1948, living in Eastern Washington
before moving to North Bonneville in 1954.
The Coffmans moved to Vancouver about three years ago
when the Town of North Bonneville was being razed to make way for a second
powerhouse at Bonneville Dam.
Besides his wife, Darlene Coffman, 1010 W. 17th St.,
Vancouver, he is survived by six sons, Roger, Craig, Kevin, Michael, Cary
and Curtis; and seven daughters, Jaculine Hartnett, Candace Brown, Cheryl
Jermann, Cynthia Spiros, Calthy Peterson, Carla Coffman, and Kimberly Coffman;
and seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Leona DeFrees, and a
brother, Michael Zwiebel, both living in California.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16,
at 11 a.m. at Gardner's Chapel in Stevenson with the Rev. Tom Payton officiating.
Interment will follow at the White Salmon Cemetery.
