BESSIE KELLY
Bessie Lee Kelly, a White Salmon resident, died in Lyle
on Aug. 10, 2000, at the age of 87.
Mrs. Kelly was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Sallisaw, Okla.,
to Elijah P. and Etta (Lashley) Mayner, the oldest of seven children. She
was raised in Altus, Ark., with her six siblings. She moved to Union Gap
in 1953, where two years later she met her husband Ed Kelly. They lived in
BZ Corner from 1959 until his death in 1973. She lived the rest of her days
in Snowden, where she found happiness in raising a small garden and livestock
with her grandson David Mayner.
Some who knew her often called her "grandma" due to her
generous nature of sending homemade canned goods with them after visits.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by her daughter Ann Mitchell,
White Salmon; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and three cousins
in Altus Ark She was preceded in death by six siblings, husband Ed Kelly
and son Amon Mayner.
Graveside services for Mrs. Kelly were held Monday, Aug.
14, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery, with Pastor Bobby Beauchamp
officiating.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, PO Box
36, Hood River, Ore. 97031.
Arrangements were made by Gardner Funeral Home of White
Salmon.
