McGAUGHEY
Basil L. McGaughey, 71, Biggs, Ore., died Friday, Feb.
1, 1991, in Goldendale. He was born Feb. 27, 1991 at McCracken, Kan. to Joseph
T. and Nellie T. McGaughey.
He attended schools in Kansas until the family moved
to southern Idaho in 1927, where he finished his education. Mr. McGaughey
worked as a farmer with his family for many years, and also at various
construction jobs throughout the Northwest. He served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II, moving to Washington in 1954 and to Goldendale in 1957. He
moved to Biggs in 1980.
Mr. McGaughey was a member of the Catholic Church and
was an avid rockhound; he also enjoyed fishing and arrowhead hunting.
Survivors include three brothers: Bernard, Vancouver,
Wash.; Wilbur, Baker City, Ore.; and Donald, Fremont, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters
and one brother.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Feb. 5 at
Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Thomas V. Lane officiating. Interment
was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery with military honors conducted by Louis
Leidl Post No. 116, American Legion.
Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers included Rick Stonewall, Don Bell, Blaine Brown, Jim McGaughey,
John McGaughey and Ken Fults.
