BURTON PAUL SMITH
Burton at Paul Smith was born in Calcaska, Mich., June
13, 1882, and died at Goldendale, Wa., on January 29, 1969, at the age of
the 86. In 1906 he took up a homestead at Wahkiacus, later moving to Battle
Ground, Wa., for several years and then back to Wahkiacus. He lived near
White Salmon for a few years just prior to coming to Goldendale three years
ago.
In 1920 he was married to Constance Preston of Battle
Ground and to this union three sons were born. Two survive and became university
graduates and one becoming a minister of the Adventist Church.
Burton made his living working in the timber and was
known as a good saw filer. He was also a member of the Seventh-day Adventist
church.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; two sons, Russell
of Kent, Wa., and Preston of Red Bluff, Cal.; one sister, Mrs. Leota Howe
of Klamath Falls, Or., and eight grandchildren.
Services were conducted February 1, 1969, at the Knosher
Funeral Home in Goldendale with Pastor Wayne W. Byers officiating. Interment
was at White Salmon, Wa.
