The Goldendale Observatory
Dedicated in 1973

The observatory, home to a variety of telescopes including a 24.5" reflector, is located on a hilltop about a mile north of Goldendale. The site was picked in 1964 by a group of Vancouver men who had searched for an appropriate spot for an observatory. In 1971, a non-profit corporation was formed. The observatory was dedicated in 1973, and in 1981 the state purchased the site, forming a state park around the observatory.
