BUCK MCCALL
Buck McCall, a longtime White Salmon area resident, died
Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in Portland, Ore., at the age of 80.
Mr. McCall was born in Hamburg, Iowa, to George E. and
Floy (Thompson) McCall. He attended school in Iowa and moved to White Salmon
in 1938. All his life, he worked as a log truck driver, eventually becoming
an independent businessman by owning his own truck and business.
Mr. McCall raised 10 children and enjoyed watching his
son race motorcycles. He owned horses and liked stock cars and stock car
races. He loved picnics and going to the beach.
Mr. McCall is survived by his sons Jerry McCall. Portland,
Ore., Mike McCall, Mosier. Ore., and Jeff McCall, Battle Ground; daughter
Joanne Thibeau, Olympia; step-daughters Vickie McCall, The Dalles, Rhonda
Holzer, Woodland, Diane Youngblood, LaCenter, Kim Flindt, Lyle, and Jamie
Graves, Trout Lake; brother Virgil "Tuffy" McCall. White Salmon; 13
grand-children and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers
Orville "Swede" McCall, Everett McCall, Leonard McCall and Mack McCall; sister
Margaret "Peggy" Panko; wife Mae McCall; and son George McCall.
Funeral services for Mr. McCall will be held Saturday.
Aug. 19, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Elks
officers officiating. A potluck reception at the Eagles will follow the
service.
Vault interment will be at White Salmon
Cemetery.
