"Newsy Correspondence from Centerville"

     Mrs. Albert Erickson passed away Tuesday morning at her home here in town. She had been ill for the past few months but no one thought the end was so near.

MRS. BERTHA ERICKSON

     Bertha Walburi Leinonen was born February 24, 1869, in Kunsamo, Finland, and passed away at her home in Centerville at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 11 days.
     In 1892 she came to America and settled at Centerville. In 1893 she was married to Peter Karjala. To which union two children were born. Her husband died in 1895.
     She was married in 1898 to Albert Erickson, who survives her. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss three sons, John, of Klickitat, Wash.; Leo, of Brush Prairie, Wash., and Hilmer, of Wishram, Wash.; four daughters, Mrs. Rollo Yocum, of Medford, Ore.; Mrs. Albert Walman and Mrs. Oscar Anderson, of Centerville, and Mrs. James Clark, of San Pedro, Calif. One sister, Mrs. Joseph Anderson, and a brother in Finland, and ten grandchildren also survive.
     Funeral services were held from the Finnish Lutheran Church, Centerville, Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. William Basi, of Clatskanie, Ore., in charge. Interment followed in the Grange cemetery at Centerville.

Burial in Grange Cemetery at Centerville Culminates Impressive Rites

     Funeral service says for Mrs. Bertha Erickson well-known Centerville lady, were conducted Friday afternoon from the Finnish Lutheran church at Centerville. A large group of friends of the deceased and her family attended the impressive rites which culminated in burial at the Centerville Grange cemetery.

     In 1892 she came to the United States and settled at Centerville. In 1893 she was married to Peter Karjala to which union two children were born. Mr. Karjala died in 1895. In 1898, the deceased resident was married again, this time to Albert Erickson, who survives her. Besides her husband, Mrs. Erickson leaves to mourn her departure three sons, John of Klickitat, Leo of Brush Prairie, and Hilmer of Wishram; and four daughters, Mrs. Rollo Yocum of Medford, Ore.; Mrs. Albert Wallman and Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Centerville, and Mrs. James Clark of San Pedro, Calif.; one sister Mrs. Joseph Anderson, and a brother in Finland; 10 grandchildren also survive.
     Mrs. Erickson was well known in Klickitat valley and a host of her friends extend sympathy to the family membes. For some time, she had suffered with asthma and just prior to her death, suffered a severe attack.
