CHARLES A. BERGGREN
Charles August Berggren, age 101, Wahkiacus, passed away
April 21 at The Dalles.
He was born in Sedalia, Mo. Nov. 23, 1876. He lived in
that that the city until coming to Washington State about 1932 and lived
in various parts of Klickitat County as well as in Portland where he worked
at the shipyards until his health failed. After selling his farm at Wahkiacus,
he moved to the Norman Woodruff place where he resided the past 17 years.
He liked working with shorthorn cattle and Rose comb white wayadotte chickens.
He is survived by nine nieces and a nephew - Mrs. Oreen
Rank, Zillah; Mrs. Edith Schoonover, Chehalis; Mrs. Margaret Loges, Zillah;
Mrs. Helen Fisher, Wapato; Mrs. Estalyne Chappell, Sedalia, Mo.; Mrs. Evelyn
Vivian, San Leandro, Calif.; Mrs. Beulah Lee Smith, Zillah; Mrs. Cleo Gange,
Bothell; Mrs. Virginia Christipher, Yakima; Elmer Berggren Purchase, Wapato;
and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Knosher Funeral
Home with Pastor Dale Schoepflin officiating. Pallbearers were Lyle Long,
Ervin Morehead, Marvin Woodruff, Lawrence Woodruff, and Keith Browning. Honorary
pallbearers were Roy Scott, Floyd Malchome, Sherrill Turner and Leonard Menkie.
Interment was in the Centerville cemetery.
