CHARLES WOOSLEY
A former White Salmon resident, Charles Benjamin Woosley
died Dec. 2 in Kingman, Ariz., at the age of 70.
Mr. Woosley was born in White Salmon July 3, 1915 to
James B. and Annie L. Woosley, and attended school in this area. He worked
in the orchards and the woods locally prior to World War II, then served
in the U.S. Army from June 1941 to Oct. 1945. As a member of the Co. E. of
the 185th Infantry, 40th Division out of Ft. Lewis, Wash., Mr. Woosley served
37 months' active duty in the Pacific Theatre of operations, earning the
Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After World War II he settled in Fiddletown, Calif.,
where he was a logger and rancher until his retirement. He was spending the
winter in Seligman, Ariz. at the time of his death.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Woosley, Hood River;
three brothers, James E. Woosley, Underwood; George R. Woosley, Fiddletown,
Calif.; and William D. Woosley, Hood River, as well as several nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.
