CECIL NICKOLS
Cecil Claude Nickols, a 92-year-old White Salmon resident,
died Dec. 4, 1994, in White Salmon.
Mr. Nickols was born Feb. 4, 1902, in St. Joseph, Mo.,
to Mary E. (Tompkins) and Clyde A. Nickols. He came to this area at the age
of two, marrying Myrtle Walker on Oct. 14, 1925. He worked in the timber
industry as a self-employed logger and worked the fall seasons as a night
watchman for the fish hatchery. He was well-known in the area as a local
saw filer. He also witched wells all over the area. He attended the Pinecrest
Church of the Nazarene. He liked to fish and garden.
Mr. Nickols is survived by his wife, Myrtle, White Salmon;
son, Cliff Nickols, Woodland; daughters, Hazel Owens, Bend, Ore., and Eula
Smith, Trout Lake; brothers, Bill Nickols, The Dalles, John Nickols, White
Salmon; sister, Margaret Loose, White Salmon; 11 and children, 29 great
grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Nickols will be held today, Dec. 8,
1994, at 1 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Steve
Barnes officiating. Interment will be at White Salmon Cemetery.
