EDWARD CARSTENS
Funeral services were held last Saturday at Gardner's
chapel for Edward Carstens, of Bingen, who passed away at the age of 81 years.
He was born in Germany and is survived by a sister, Marie Staack, of Bingen.
He lived alone and was found dead Wednesday of last week. It is thought that
he passed away two days before, Monday.
Rev. George Jefferson officiated at the funeral, and
interment was in the local cemetery.

CARSTEN CARSTENS FOUND DEAD HERE WEDNESDAY
Carsten E. Carstens, resident of Bingen since 1909, was
found dead at his home on Franklin street Wednesday night, apparently having
died sometime Monday evening. He had been around town Monday, and having
been accustomed to visit with his sister, Marie Staack, nearly every day,
she thought something was wrong with him and found him dead.
He was born August 1, 1862 in Lindholm Schleswig Holstein,
Germany, and died December 13, being 81 years old at the time of his death.
He came to the United States in 1881 and farmed near Gilmer from 1882 until
coming to Bingen in 1909.
Funeral services will be held at the Gardner Funeral
home Saturday, December 18, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows
cemetery.
Surviving him are a sister, Mrs. Marie Staack of Bingen,
and several nephews and nieces.
