FUNERAL SERVICES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR C.E. LARSEN
Christian Edward Larsen was born in Hadeland, Norway
on July 25, 1861. He came to the United States at the age of 21. He married
Maren Anette Dahi from Freidrickstad, Norway on July 25, 1893 in Portland,
Oregon. He was shoemaker by trade and owned and operated a shoe store on
the location of the first Meier and Frank store in Portland, Oregon for a
few years. Later he engaged in private parking and real estate business in
both Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. He then became interested
in fruit farming, and after having traveled extensively he decided White
Salmon was one of the most beautiful locations in the country. A homestead
was purchased 53 years ago and from the wilderness evolved a beautiful home,
a modern and extensive fruit farm.
Six children, two girls and four boys were raised in
these pleasant surroundings. Surviving are: his wife, Maren Anette Larsen;
six children, Mrs. O.F. Gardner, Edwin O. Larsen, Harold B. Larsen of White
Salmon, Washington; Enor C. Larsen of Long Beach, Washington; Mrs. J. Warner
Henderson of Hood River, Oregon; and Christian A. Larsen of Manila, Philippines.
There are also eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Larsen was a member of the Mt. View Grange and The
Pioneer Association for many years.
Services were held in Gardner's Funeral Chapel Wednesday,
July 14th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Thomas of the Congregational Church officiating.
