GLENWOOD MAN KILLED BY LOG

     Chester Wellenbrock, president of the Glenwood Logging Company, was killed about 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 when he was struck in the back of the head by a swinging log.
     The accident happened on an access road, five miles from the Charles Allen place on the Glenwood-Trout Lake cutoff.      According to Deputy Coroner Moz Burles, Wellenbrock was working as a choker setter with his partner, Gerhard (Jerry) Neils, Jr.
     The men were pulling three logs to a loading area. One log butted into a stump, arced and struck Wellenbrock.                  Gardner's Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
     Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30 in the Glenwood Community church. The Rev. Roger L. Clevenger of White Salmon will be assisted by the Rev. Clarence Twigg of Mt. Adams Larger Parish.
     Mt. Adams Elks Lodge 1868 will conduct graveside services at the Glenwood cemetery.
     Chester Edward Wellenbrock was born Nov. 2, 1927 in Glenwood and worked as a logger for J. Neils for 15 years until last year when he and Gerhard Neils, Jr. formed a partnership.
     He is survived by his widow, Florence (Billie); children, Teresa and David; parents, Sophie and George Wellenbrock; brothers, Harold of Glenwood; Arnold of Brookings, Ore.; and sisters, Sadie Jackson, Oakland, Calif.; Lela Ward of Glenwood and Florence Darnell of Brookings.

WELLENBROCK RITES HELD ON SATURDAY

     Chester E. Wellenbrock was born November 2, 1927 in Glenwood, and passed away June 26th, 1962 near Trout Lake in a logging accident. He was the fifth of six children born to Sophia and George Wellenbrock.
     He spent his entire life in Glenwood, with the exception of three years spent in the service. he graduated from Glenwood High School in 1946. On June 30th, 1950 he was married to Florence, better known as Billie, Ward in white Salmon. To this union two children were born; Teresa in 1951 and David in 1954.
     Chet was an outdoor-man, happy to find both his livelihood and pleasure in the woods, streams and hills.
     Chet was a partner of the Glenwood Logging Corporation at the time of his death, prior to which he worked for J. Neils Lumber Company.
     He was very much interested in all types of sports at which he spent many happy hours. Chet was a member of the Mt. Adams Elk's Lodge No. 1868. He was a friend to all who knew him and their lives were enriched by it. His words of encouragement and acts of kindness will never be forgotten.
     He is survived by his beloved wife, Billie; loving children, Terire and David; parents, George and Sophie Wellenbrock, all of Glenwood, Washington. Also three sisters and two brothers, Arnold of Brookings, Oregon, Harold of Glenwood; Sadie Jackson of Oakland, California; Lela Ward of Glenwood, and Florence Darnell of Brookings, Oregon. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives and a world of friends.
     Funeral services were held Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Gymnasium with Rev. Roger Clevenger of White Salmon officiating. Interment services were rendered by the Mt. Adams Elk's Lodge No. 1868 at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.

     Casket bearers were: Jerry Neils, Phil Dean, Edwin Eaton, Willie Tahara, Fred Steinbach Jr.,and Harry Dechand.

SERVICES HELD FOR C.E. WELLENBROCK

     Funeral services for Chester E. Wellenbrock, 34, were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Glenwood school gymnasium, with Rev. Roger Clevenger of White Salmon officiating. Interment services were rendered by the Mt. Adams Elks Lodge, No. 1868, at the Mt. Adams cemetery in Glenwood.
