CHARLES F. JAEKEL DIES IN PORTLAND; FUNERAL WEDNESDAY
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Phillips
Funeral Home for Charles F. Jaekel, who passed away Friday at the Emanuel
hospital in Portland, where he had been the past two weeks. Rev. P. Glenn
Garner officiated, with the Masonic lodge conducting graveside services at
the Centerville Grange cemetery.
Charles Jaekel was 75 years old, having been born August
26, 1869 in Wisconsin. He came to this county as a boy, and spent most of
his life here. He farmed, and at one time was deputy processor and then assessor
for two terms. He moved to Portland about 1926, where he has been living.
He is survived by four brothers and two sisters: James of Goldendale, Albert
of Maryhill, John of Wishram, and Frank of North Bonneville, Mrs. Minnie
McQueen of Ellensburg and Mrs. Ida McGill of Portland.

CHARLES F. JAEKEL
Charles F. Jaekel, a son of John and Christine Jaekel,
was born August 26, 1869, in Manitowoe county, Wisconsin and passed away
at Portland, Oregon, January 5, 1945, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and
9 days.
He came with his parents to Klickitat county when he
was a small boy, and lived here most of his life, growing up and becoming
a farmer in the area of Centerville. In later life he sold his farm and after
serving as a deputy assessor was elected assessor in Klickitat county for
two terms. About 1926 he moved to Portland where he lived until the time
of his death.
From infancy he was affiliated with the Lutheran church
and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason.
He is survived by four brothers, Frank F. of North
Bonneville; J.A. of Wishram; James R. of Goldendale, Albert C. of Maryhill
and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie McQueen of Ellensburg and Mrs. Ida McGill of
Portland, Ore.
Services were held from the Phillips Funeral Home in
Goldendale Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. P. Glenn Garner officiating.
Interment was made in the Centerville cemetery with Masonic graveside services.
