CHARLES F. PORTNER
Charles F. Portner passed away in his sleep May 13th
at his home in Bingen at the age of 7_.
He was born in Switzerland on May 30, 1880. He married
Louise M. Pingeon in 1913 and to this union 12 children were born. His wife
and two children preceded him in death, Louisa in 1919, Charles in 1954 and
Alfred in 1919.
Three sons survive him, Pete and Lloyd of White Salmon,
and Albert of Trout Lake. Seven daughters are Mrs. Carl Engle of Hood River,
Mrs. Howard Shum of Bingen, Mrs. Lloyd Hansen of Rapid City, South Dakota,
Mrs. Donald Schmidt of Grants Pass, Oregon; Mrs. Richard Mansfield of White
Salmon, Mrs. Ed Holley of Glenwood, Wash. and Mrs. B.J. Kessinger of Klickitat,
Washington; 36 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Mr. Portner was a farmer all of his life until moving
to Bingen in 1942 from South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17 at 2 p.m.
in Gardner's Funeral Home.

CHARLES PORTNER DIES IN SLEEP
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Gardner's
Funeral Home for Charles F. Portner, 78, of Bingen who died at his home while
sleeping sometime Monday night, May 12.
The Rev. Mr. Oscar Olsen will officiate. Burial will
be in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mr. Portner was born in Switzerland May 30, 1880 and
was married to Louisa M. Pingeon in 1913. To this union were born 12 children.
Mrs. Portner died in 1955, and two sons also preceded their father in death,
