SLOCKISH
Cody James Slockish of Wahkiacus, born April 1, 1999
in White Swan to Frank and Mattie Slockish, passed away Sept. 19 in Seattle.
A member of the Yakima Indian Nation, he was a veteran
of World War II and of the Catholic Church, and was educated at Yakima Valley
College and the University of Washington.
Mr. Slockish lived in the area most of his life, and
was a logger and fishermen.
He is survived by a daughter, Christina Slockish, Wahkiacus;
by a brother, Wilbur Slockish Sr.; by three sisters: Marie Teo and Arlene
Ahtanum, White Swan, and Sally Buck, Dallesport; by three granddaughters
and a grandson; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Seven Drums Dressing Ceremony was held Friday, Sept.
21, at Gardner Funeral Home, with Russell Jim and Andrew George officiating.
Burial followed Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Wahkiacus Cemetery.
