CHESTER LEE MEUGNOIT

     Chester Lee Meugniot, 71, a resident of Dallesport, died at the local hospital on Wednesday after a sudden illness.
     He was born Sept. 19, 1919 in Robinson, Kan. to Al and Maggie (Miller) Meugnoit. He grew up and attended school in Hiawatha, Kan.
     He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and while serving in England married Constance Freestone in April 1, 1943 in Lester, England.
     After the war, he returned to Hiawatha and moved to Eugene in 1950 and then to the Mid-Columbia area in 1955. He worked as a laborer during the construction of numerous power dams.
     He was a member of Laborers Local No. 335 in Vancouver and the Dallesport Baptist Church.
     Survivors include his wife, Connie, in Dallesport; two sons, Paul Ray, Portland, and Michael Lee, Dallesport; two brothers, George, Fall City, and Ivan, Topeka, Kan.; and a sister, Hazel Meyers, Walla Walla, Wash.
     Funeral services will be at the Dallesport Baptist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m with Pastor Glenn Perry officiating. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home.
     Memorials may be made to the Dallesport Baptist Church.
