SPERRY

     Clarence "Spud" Sperry, 84, of White Swan, died Sunday evening March 12 in Yakima at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
     He was born June 3, 1904 in Yakima to Leslie Nichols and Mabel P. Sperry. Sperry was raised and educated in the lower Yakima Valley where he spent some time of breaking and training horses.
     He married LaVella H. Yeackel, July 8, 1927, in Wenatchee. They lived at the Naches Ranger Station where he was employed by the U.S. government for several years. In the 1940's Sperry was owner and operator of the Asphalt Paving Company in Seattle. He also spent several years in South America as the project manager for the DeLong Construction Co. and later returned to Seattle to work for King County until his retirement. Sperry then returned to the Lower Yakima Valley.
     He was an accomplished guitar player and a longtime member of the Ballard Elks Lodge.
     He is survived by his wife LaVellle, two daughters; Janice Sarsfield of White Swan, Sharon Hill of Redmond, Wash., six grandchildren, and 10 great-grand children.
     Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 10 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home Chapel in Wapato. Burial will be in Centerville, at the Centerville Cemetery.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the White Swan Ambulance through the Merritt Funeral Home.

     WHITE SWAN - Clarence "Spud" Sperry, 84, White Swan died Sunday evening, March 12, 1989 in Yakima at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
     He was born June 3, 1904 in Yakima to Leslie Nichols and Mabel P. (Labbee) Sperry. Spud was raised and educated in the Lower Yakima Valley where he spent some time breaking and training horses. On June 8, 1927 he married LaVelle H. Yeackel in Wenatchee. They lived at the Naches Ranger Station where he was employed by the U.S. Government for several years. In the 1940's Mr. Sperry was owner and operator of the Asphalt Paving Company in Seattle. He spent several years in South America as the project manager for the DeLong Construction Co. and later returned to Seattle and work for King County until his retirement. He then returned to the Lower Valley that was the West he knew and loved.
     Mr. Sperry was an accomplished guitar player and a longtime member of the Ballard Elks Lodge.
     He is survived by his loving wife, LaVelle; two daughters, Jan Sarsfield of White Swan and Sharon Hill of Redmond, Wash.; six grand-children and 10 great-grand children.
     Funeral services will be held for Mr. Sperry Wednesday morning, March 15 at 10 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home Chapel in Wapato. Burial will be in Centerville, Wash. at the Centerville Cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the White Swan Ambulance through Merritt Funeral Home.

     WHITE SWAN - Clarence "Spud" Sperry, 84, of White Swan died Sunday evening in Yakima at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
     Mr. Sperry was born in Yakima and reared and educated in the Lower Yakima Valley He worked at the Naches Ranger Station for several years, owned and operated Asphalt Paving Co. in Seattle in the 1940s, spent several years in South America as project manager for the DeLong Construction Co., and later returned to Seattle, working for King County until his retiring. After retiring he moved to the Lower Valley.
     Survivors include his wife, LaVelle of White Swan, and two daughters, Jan Sarsfield of White Swan and Sharon Hill of Redmond.
     Merritt Funeral Home, Wapato, is in charge of arrangements.
