Charles Loren Storkel
Charles Loren Storkel, 77, of Goldendale, died Aug. 8,
2002.
He was born Jan. 17, 1925 in Wibaux, Mont. to Roy and
Helen Storkel. He moved to Washing-ton as a child and attended schools in
Goldendale where he graduated. Loren then entered into the Merchant Marines
in 1944 and married Peggy Hunter on June 9, 1945 in Goldendale. Loren worked
for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years and then drove for the
Senior Services for nine years. He was one of the main people responsible
for starting the International Full Gospel Businessmen Chapter in
Goldendale.
Loren enjoyed wood working, farming, gardening and singing.
He was a member of the grange and was active in the church.
His parents and one brother preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Goldendale; two
sons, Ken Storkel of Des Moines, and Ron Storkel of Zillah; one daughter,
Twila Davis, of Goldendale; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
three brothers, Wayne Storkel of Goldendale, LeRoy Storkel of Pasco, and
Robert Storkel of Prineville, Ore.; two sisters, Marlene Fenton of Maupin,
Ore. and MaryAnn Gibbs ofArizona City, Ariz.
Services were held Aug. 12 at the First Baptist Church.
Interment was at Spring Creek Cemetery under the care of Erdman Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church for Dr. Jim Ogden's missionary
fund.
